GREEN ROOF CONSTRUCTION FINISHED! Now we've got to plant the thing

In Filbert Street Garden's first year, the Chesapeake Center for Youth Development (CCYD) Building Trades program built a shed for the community garden and helped to coordinate high-school volunteers.

They've really set the bar high for this year already, though.  They've finished construction of a green roof for the garden, and are working on gates for our new garden fence and a gravity-fed irrigation system using donated rain barrels.  For more about CCYD's programs, check them out at:

And keep checking for more updates, it's growing time!

  1. Keeping a green roof garden is a good idea. You can help save the environment and maximize the use of your roof at the same time. Congratulations, Chesapeake Center for Youth Development! =)

  2. Wherever there is action in a place, the spots which are the most inviting, are those high enough to give people a vantage point, and low enough to put them in action." This is a fun place, a theater that can activate our mundane chores best fence
